In 1935 John Parduba introduced a remarkable new design in mouthpieces for brass instruments. The world-famous "Double-Cup" design was made popular by Harry James in 1938 while playing in the Benny Goodman Band. Many name players such as Ziggy Elman and Ray Anthony started using the mouthpiece, but it became a staple when Luis Armstrong joined the club.
